Infosys is without doubt one of the biggest success stories of the Indian IT industry, so it was exciting to see for ourselves what the fuss is all about, reports author Kate de Montjoye.
„And I think it’s safe to say that none of the 32 OWC members who ventured to Electronics City on the 17th of March were disappointed. Quite the contrary!
The headquarters of this multinational company, which employs over 106,000 people in 22 countries, is right here in Bangalore. The Infosys campus is a real showcase and a must-see for foreign dignitaries coming to Bangalore; Bill Gates and Tony Blair are just two of the many VIP visitors to have come and admired the campus before us.
Our group was welcomed by Kevin who took us to the auditorium, where we were shown a short video about the history of the company which explained how N.R. Narayana Murthy and six young engineers started out in Pune in 1981 with a mere $ 250., set up a software development company and went on to build an enterprise which is now a global leader in the IT field with revenues of over four billion US dollars. The first Indian IT company to be listed on the Nasdaq, Infosys has won numerous awards in the past ten years including Best Employer in India (Business Today), and numbers among world’s five best-performing companies in the software and services sector (Forbes) and one of the 50 most innovative companies (Business Week).
